Programs That Build Real Change

Seven interconnected programs, each targeting a specific barrier to health, safety, and opportunity — designed to work together as one integrated system of community support.

Mattapan Environmental Justice Initiative

Mattapan, a majority-Black neighborhood in Boston, has been carrying the burden of Superfund-adjacent soil contamination and Neponset River pollution for decades. Elevated cancer rates, increased birth defects, and degraded drinking water are not statistics — they are the lived reality of thousands of families. GCH, co-anchoring this initiative with Mattapan CDC, is taking direct action.

Mattapan is a federally designated Environmental Justice community under Justice40/CEJST, EPA Region 1 (New England), and Massachusetts AG/EEA frameworks.

01

Water Filtration Pilot

In partnership with specialty partner FieldsPro and Homeworks365, we are deploying household water filtration systems to high-risk families, providing immediate clean-water access while long-term remediation advances.

02

Soil Contamination Advocacy

Engaging EPA Region 1, MA AG Environmental Justice, and HUD CDBG channels to secure funding and regulatory action on contaminated Superfund-adjacent sites throughout the neighborhood.

03

Community Health Education

Door-to-door outreach delivering education on environmental health risks, water safety, and health monitoring, ensuring residents have information and agency, not just fear.

04

Workforce Remediation Pipeline

Building an apprenticeship pipeline so Mattapan residents gain priority access to environmental remediation jobs, transforming the community harmed by contamination into the community that heals it.

Cannabis Therapeutic &
Economic Applications

Responsible Use. Equitable Opportunity.

GCH holds an evidence-forward position on cannabis and hemp: as therapeutic tools under proper medical supervision, they hold real promise. As an economic sector, cannabis represents one of the few emerging industries where communities historically harmed by the War on Drugs can now build wealth — if given a fair chance.
